ROZWAŻANIE Czy umiem się cieszyć szczęściem bliźniego?
Czytamy w żywocie św. Pafnucego, że pewien zakonnik, mieszkający w tym samym co Święty klasztorze, zazdrościł Pafnucemu jego cnót i powszechnego poważania. Postanowił więc zniesławić go przed braćmi. Kiedy w niedzielę św. Pafnucy był na Mszy Świętej, ten zakradł się potajemnie do jego celi i tam, w stosiku drewien, schował swoją książkę. Potem poszedł z innymi braćmi do kościoła, a po skończonych modłach poskarżył się przełożonemu, że ukradziono mu książkę. Przełożony nie pozwolił żadnemu z braci ruszyć się z kościoła i posłał trzech starców, żeby przeszukali wszystkie cele. W celi Pafnucego istotnie pomiędzy drewnami znaleziono książkę.
Święty nie usprawiedliwiał się, bo na nic by się to nie zdało; pomówiono by go jeszcze o kłamstwo. Cierpiał więc spokojnie, płakał, upokarzał się i pościł przez dwa tygodnie. Wreszcie Pan Bóg, chcąc pokazać niewinność Świętego, który spokojnie znosił ten okropny zarzut i niesławę, spuścił na zazdrosnego winowajcę straszną karę. Opętał go bowiem zły duch i męczył tak okropnie, że ten wreszcie przyznał się, że chłosta Boża spadła na niego za to, że chciał przedstawić Pafnucego jako obłudnego świętoszka. Pafnucy spokojnie i bez żółci podszedł wówczas do opętanego i nakazał złemu duchowi ustąpić. Stało się to w obecności wszystkich braci zakonnych, którzy słyszeli, jak zazdrosny zakonnik przyznał się do winy i byli też świadkami nowego triumfu sługi Bożego, Pafnucego.
Św. Ambroży mówi, że na świecie jest bardzo wielu ludzi zazdrosnych, których powodzenie i łaski, jakich Bóg udziela innym, kłują w oczy. Słusznie powiada Hiob: „Nierozsądnych zabija smutek, a gniew uśmierca niemądrych” (Hi 5, 2). Bo naprawdę – czy to, że ktoś się martwi i złości tym, że sąsiadowi, bratu czy siostrze lepiej się powodzi, że ich ludzie kochają, że im Bóg błogosławi – czy to nie świadczy o jego umysłowej ciasnocie?
Tak, moje dzieci, mówi św. Grzegorz Wielki, trzeba być bardzo ograniczonym człowiekiem, żeby pozwolić się tyranizować tej podłej i bezecnej namiętności. Czy chrześcijanin nie powinien się cieszyć szczęściem bliźniego? Podła jest dusza, która zazdrości drugiemu człowiekowi i jęczy w niewoli namiętności, usiłując ją ukryć przed ludźmi i zamaskować różnymi pozorami. Czy to nie jest podłe postępowanie – martwić się i gryźć dlatego, że Bóg obdarza łaskami kogoś innego?
W każdym dniu nowenny zatrzymaj się nad tekstem rozważań przez chwilę (ok. 10-15 min) i proś Ducha Świętego, by pomógł Ci zrozumieć te słowa; zobacz, które słowo szczególnie Cię poruszyło, które dotyka Twojego życia; zastanów się co ono dla Ciebie znaczy; im głębiej wejdziesz w te rozważania tym więcej łask spłynie na Ciebie i innych, pamiętaj byś w tym rozważaniu starał się być sam z Panem Bogiem…
Na koniec podziękuj Panu za to, co Ci dziś pokazał, o Tobie…

CONSIDERATION – Do I know how to enjoy the happiness of my neighbor?
We read in the life of St. Paphnutius that a certain monk, who lived in the same monastery as the Saint, envied Paphnutius his virtues and universal esteem. So he decided to defame him in front of his brothers. When St. Paphnutios was at Mass on Sunday, he secretly crept into his cell and there, in a pile of wood, hid his book. Then he went to church with the other brothers, and after he had finished praying, he complained to his superior that his book had been stolen. The superior did not allow any of the brothers to leave the church and sent three elders to search all the cells. In Paphnutius’ cell, a book was indeed found among the woods. The saint did not justify himself, because it would be of no use; He would also be accused of lying. So he suffered peacefully, cried, humiliated himself and fasted for two weeks. Finally, the Lord God, wishing to show the innocence of the saint, who calmly endured this horrible accusation and disgrace, inflicted a terrible punishment on the jealous culprit. For he was possessed by an evil spirit and tormented him so terribly that he finally confessed that God’s chastisement had fallen on him for wanting to portray Paphnutios as a hypocritical sanctimonious. Paphnutius then calmly and without bile approached the possessed man and ordered the evil spirit to give way. This happened in the presence of all the religious brothers, who heard the jealous monk confess his guilt and also witnessed a new triumph for the Servant of God, Paphnutius.
St. Ambrose says that there are so many jealous people in the world, whose prosperity and the graces that God bestows on others are stinging in the eyes. Job rightly says: „The foolish are killed by sorrow, and anger kills the foolish” (Job 5:2). Because really, is it not a sign of narrow-mindedness that someone is worried and angry that their neighbor or brother or sister is better off, that their people love them, that God blesses them? Yes, my children, says St. Gregory the Great, one must be a very limited man to allow oneself to be tyrannized by this vile and vile passion. Shouldn’t a Christian rejoice in the happiness of his neighbor? A vile soul is one that envies another person and groans in the bondage of passion, trying to hide it from people and mask it with various appearances. Isn’t it despicable to worry and bite because God gives graces to someone else?

Nous Te demandons de les remplir du feu de Ton amour, afin que leur ministère puisse manifester Ta présence dans l’Église. Parce qu’ils sont des vases d’argile, nous prions pour que Ta puissance pénètre leurs faiblesses. Ne permets pas qu’ils soient écrasés dans leurs afflictions. Accordez que, dans le doute, ils ne cèdent jamais au désespoir, ne cèdent jamais aux tentations, afin qu’ils ne se sentent pas abandonnés dans la persécution. CONSIDÉRER – Est-ce que je sais comment jouir du bonheur de mon prochain?
Nous lisons dans la vie de saint Paphnuce qu’un certain moine, qui vivait dans le même monastère que le saint, enviait à Paphnuce ses vertus et son estime universelle. Il décida donc de le diffamer devant ses frères. Lorsque saint Paphnutios était à la messe le dimanche, il se glissa secrètement dans sa cellule et là, dans un tas de bois, il cacha son livre. Puis il est allé à l’église avec les autres frères et, après avoir fini de prier, il s’est plaint à son supérieur que son livre avait été volé.
Le supérieur ne permit à aucun des frères de quitter l’église et envoya trois anciens fouiller toutes les cellules. Dans la cellule de Paphnuce, un livre a en effet été trouvé dans les bois. Le saint ne s’est pas justifié, parce que cela ne lui serait d’aucune utilité ; Il sera également accusé de mensonge. Alors il a souffert paisiblement, pleuré, s’est humilié et a jeûné pendant deux semaines. Finalement, le Seigneur Dieu, voulant montrer l’innocence du saint, qui supporta calmement cette horrible accusation et cette honte, infligea un terrible châtiment au coupable jaloux. Car il était possédé d’un mauvais esprit et le tourmentait si terriblement qu’il finit par avouer que le châtiment de Dieu était tombé sur lui pour avoir voulu dépeindre Paphnutios comme un saint hypocrite. Paphnuce s’approcha alors calmement et sans bile du possédé et ordonna au mauvais esprit de s’abandonner. Cela s’est passé en présence de tous les frères religieux, qui ont entendu le moine jaloux confesser sa culpabilité et ont également assisté à un nouveau triomphe pour le serviteur de Dieu, Paphnuce.
Saint Ambroise dit qu’il y a tant de jaloux dans le monde, dont la prospérité et les grâces que Dieu accorde aux autres piquent les yeux. Job dit à juste titre : « Les insensés sont tués par la douleur, et la colère tue les insensés » (Job 5:2). Parce que vraiment, n’est-ce pas un signe de son étroitesse d’esprit que son voisin, son frère ou sa sœur soit inquiet et en colère que son voisin, son frère ou sa sœur soit mieux loti, que son peuple l’aime, que Dieu le bénisse ? Oui, mes enfants, dit saint Grégoire le Grand, il faut être un homme bien limité pour se laisser tyranniser par cette passion vile. Une âme vile est celle qui envie une autre personne et gémit dans l’esclavage de la passion, essayant de la cacher aux gens et de la masquer sous diverses apparences. N’est-il pas méprisable de s’inquiéter et de mordre parce que Dieu donne des grâces à quelqu’un d’autre ?
Chaque jour de la neuvaine, réfléchissez un instant au texte des méditations (environ 10 à 15 minutes) et demandez à l’Esprit Saint de vous aider à comprendre ces paroles ; voyez quel mot vous a particulièrement touché, quel est celui qui touche votre vie ; pensez à ce que cela signifie pour vous ; plus vous approfondissez ces réflexions, plus les grâces couleront sur vous et sur les autres, rappelez-vous d’essayer d’être seul avec Dieu dans cette réflexion…
