Za tak wielki dar dla Twego Kościoła przyjmij nasze uwielbienie i dziękczynienie. Prosimy Cię, abyś napełnił ich ogniem Twojej miłości, aby ich służba ujawniała Twoją obecność w Kościele. Ponieważ są naczyniami z gliny, modlimy się, aby Twoja moc przenikała ich słabości. Nie pozwól, by w swych utrapieniach zostali zmiażdżeni. ROZWAŻANIE Jakie nieszczęścia doczesne powoduje grzech?
Najpierw, jest on źródłem wszelkich Bożych kar. Ubóstwo, choroby, smutki i wszelkie inne bolesne ciosy, a przede wszystkim śmierć. Duch Święty mówi w kilku miejscach do Żydów, że jeżeli zachowają Jego przykazania – On da im błogosławieństwo. Jeśli natomiast przeciwnie, opuszczą Stwórcę, spuści na nich różne klęski i nieszczęścia (por. Pwt 7). I rzeczywiście, wszystkie chłosty, tak duchowe jak cielesne, biorą początek w grzechu. Dlaczego Aniołowie spadli z nieba do piekła? Dlaczego Adam został wygnany z raju? Dlaczego na pierwszych rodziców i ich potomków spadło tyle nieszczęść? Powodem tego jest grzech (por. Rdz 3). Czy to nie zbrodnie ludzi sprowadziły na ziemię potop (por. Rdz 6,13)? A co sprowadziło na Sodomę, Gomorę i inne miasta ogień z nieba (por. Rdz 19), jeżeli nie grzech? O przeklęty grzechu, kto cię dobrze poznał, ten nigdy nie odważy się ciebie popełnić!
Prorok Natan mówi do Dawida: „Nie odejdzie miecz z domu twego aż na wieki, dlatego żeś mną wzgardził” (2 Sm 12,10). Mędrzec Pański powiada: Ubóstwo od Pana w domu niezbożnego, lecz mieszkania sprawiedliwych będą błogosławione (Prz 3,33). Unikajmy bracia, grzechu, bo on przyczynia nam nieszczęść doczesnych. Grzech skraca życie człowieka. Bóg znosi grzesznika nieraz bardzo długo. Kiedy jednak widzi, że ten nie poprawia się, zabiera go z tego świata, wycina go spośród żyjących, jak nieurodzajne drzewo. Kiedy Król Ezechiasz zachorował, Pan posłał do niego proroka z rozkazem, żeby uporządkował swoje sprawy, bo niedługo umrze. Słysząc to, Ezechiasz odwrócił się do ściany i zaczął gorzko opłakiwać swoje grzechy. Pan, poruszony miłosierdziem, przedłuża mu życie o piętnaście lat (por. Iz 38). Król Sedecjasz przeciwnie, za swoje nie odpokutowane zbrodnie wraz z dziećmi dostał się do niewoli, gdzie wyłupiono mu oczy i tak nędznie zakończył życie. Bezbożny Antioch przyznaje, że to jego zbrodnie ściągnęły na niego przedwczesną śmierć, bo złupił święte miasto i znieważył świątynię prawdziwego Boga. Robaki stoczyły żywcem jego ciało (por. 2 Mch 9). Cesarz Anastazy widział w nocy w swoim pokoju groźną postać z księgą w ręku. Postać ta z powodu jego grzechów wykreśliła mu z księgi jego życia, 40 lat. A takie myśli są przerażające dla człowieka, który pragnie długiego życia.
Zatrzymaj się nad tym tekstem przez chwilę (10-15 min); proś Ducha Świętego, by pomógł Ci zrozumieć te słowa; zobacz, które słowo szczególnie Cię poruszyło, które dotyka Twojego życia; zastanów się co ono dla Ciebie znaczy; pamiętaj byś w tym rozważaniu starał się być sam z Panem Bogiem…, podziękuj Mu za to, co Ci dziś pokazał o Tobie…

Opening Prayer:
Lord Jesus, You chose Your priests and religious from among us and sent them to preach Your Word and act in Your Holy Name. For such a great gift to Your Church, accept our praise and thanksgiving.
We ask You to fill them with the fire of Your love, so that their service may reveal Your presence in the Church. Because they are vessels of clay, we pray that Your power will penetrate their weaknesses. Do not let them be crushed in their afflictions. Make them never give in to despair in doubts, never give in to temptations, and never feel abandoned in times of persecution. Inspire them in prayer so that they may live the mystery of Your death and resurrection every day. In moments of weakness, send them Your Spirit. Help them to praise Your Heavenly Father and pray for poor sinners. By the power of the Holy Spirit, put Your word on their lips and pour Your love into their hearts so that they can bring the Good News to the poor and healing to the depressed and desperate. May the gift of Mary, Your Mother, to Your disciple whom You loved, be a gift to everyone called to Your service. Grant that She who formed You in Her human image, form them in Your divine likeness, by the power of Your Spirit and to the glory of God the Father.

CONSIDERATION
What temporal misfortunes does sin cause?
First, he is the source of all God’s punishments. Poverty, diseases, sorrows and all other painful blows, and above all, death. The Holy Spirit tells the Jews in several places that if they keep His commandments, He will give them a blessing. If, on the contrary, they leave the Creator, He will rain down on them various disasters and misfortunes (cf. Deuteronomy 7). And indeed, all floggings, both spiritual and corporal, begin in sin. Why did angels fall from heaven to hell? Why was Adam expelled from paradise? Why did so much misfortune befall the first parents and their descendants? The reason for this is sin (cf. Gen 3). Was it not the crimes of men that brought the flood to the earth (cf. Gen 6:13)? And what brought fire from heaven to Sodom, Gomorrah and other cities (cf. Gen 19), if not sin?
O accursed sin, whoever knows you well will never dare to commit it!
Nathan the prophet says to David: „The sword shall not depart from your house forever, because you have rejected me” (2 Sam 12:10). The wise man of the Lord says: Poverty from the Lord is in the house of the wicked, but the dwellings of the righteous will be blessed (Proverbs 3:33). Let us avoid sin, brothers, because it causes us earthly misfortunes. Sin shortens a person’s life. God endures a sinner sometimes for a very long time. But when he sees that he is not improving, he takes him from this world and cuts him down from among the living like a barren tree. When King Hezekiah fell ill, the Lord sent a prophet to him telling him to put his affairs in order because he would soon die. Hearing this, Hezekiah turned to the wall and began to mourn his sins bitterly. The Lord, moved by mercy, prolongs his life
by fifteen years (cf. Is 38). King Zedekiah, on the other hand, for his unrepentant crimes, he and his children were taken captive, where his eyes were gouged out, and he ended his life miserably. The wicked Antiochus admits that it was his crimes that brought him premature death, because he sacked the holy city and insulted the temple of the true God. The worms ate his body alive (cf. 2 Macc 9). Emperor Anastasius saw a menacing figure in his room at night with a book in his hand. Due to his sins, this figure crossed out 40 years of his life. And such thoughts are terrifying for a person who wants a long life.
Stay over this text for a while (10-15 min); ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand these words; see which word particularly moved you, which one touches your life; think about what it means to you; remember that in this reflection you should try to be alone with God…, thank Him for what He showed you about you today…
