Panie Jezu, Ty wybrałeś Twoich kapłanów i osoby zakonne spośród nas i wysłałeś ich, aby głosili Twoje Słowo i działali w Twoje Święte Imię. Za tak wielki dar dla Twego Kościoła przyjmij nasze uwielbienie i dziękczynienie. Prosimy Cię, abyś napełnił ich ogniem Twojej miłości, aby ich służba ujawniała Twoją obecność w Kościele. Ponieważ są naczyniami z gliny, modlimy się, aby Twoja moc przenikała ich słabości. Nie pozwól, by w swych utrapieniach zostali zmiażdżeni. Spraw, by w wątpliwościach nigdy nie poddawali się rozpaczy, nie ulegali pokusom, by w prześladowaniach nie czuli się opuszczeni. Natchnij ich w modlitwie, aby codziennie żyli tajemnicą Twojej śmierci i zmartwychwstania. W chwilach słabości poślij im Twojego Ducha. Niech dar Maryi, Twojej Matki, dla Twojego ucznia, którego umiłowałeś, będzie darem dla każdego powołanego do Twojej służby. Spraw, aby Ta, która uformowała Ciebie na swój ludzki wizerunek, uformowała ich na Twoje boskie podobieństwo, mocą Twojego Ducha i na chwałę Boga Ojca.

ROZWAŻANIE Skutki grzechu na duszy
Straszne skutki i szkody ponosi też człowiek z powodu grzechu na duszy. Jak ciało bez ducha jest trupem, tak dusza człowieka, pozbawiona łaski Bożej, jest martwa i napełnia wstrętem Boga i Aniołów. W tym stanie nie może ona zrobić nic, co by zasługiwało na życie wieczne.
Św. Katarzyna Sieneńska, kiedy pewnego razu miała wizję duszy będącej w łasce Bożej, w zachwycie wołała: „Panie, gdyby mi wiara nie mówiła, że jest tylko jeden Bóg, sądziłabym, że ta dusza jest Bóstwem. Rozumiem, Boże, że za tak piękną duszę mogłeś umierać!” Kiedy jednak człowiek popełni grzech ciężki, ta cudowna piękność znika: dusza, podobna przedtem do Aniołów, teraz staje się brzydka jak czart albo ścierwo leżące osiem dni w słonecznym upale. Po grzechu człowiek traci wszystkie zasługi zebrane na żywot wieczny, choćby był w nie tak bogaty, jak wszyscy Aniołowie i Święci razem. Po upadku pozostaje mu tylko piekło. O przeklęty grzechu, jakie ty
straszne zniszczenia powodujesz w duszy! Niestety – ilu tu obecnych jest w takim opłakanym stanie! Niechby się ludzie tak bali śmierci duchowej, jak się boją śmierci ciała!
Idę dalej i twierdzę, że grzech śmiertelny pozbawia nas spokoju duszy. Św. Paweł mówi, że pokój duszy przewyższa wszelkie radości zmysłowe: A pokój Boży, który przewyższa wszelki zmysł, niech strzeże serc waszych i myśli waszych w Chrystusie Jezusie (Flp 4,7). A o grzeszniku przeciwnie mówi prorok Izajasz, że serce jego cierpi nieopisane boleści (por. Iz 13,8). W liście do Rzymian Św. Paweł pisze, że grzeszników przez całe życie trapić będą udręki: Utrapienie i ucisk na wszelką duszę człowieka, który złość popełnia (Rz 2,9).
Dlaczego przyjacielu, trwasz w grzechu, skoro to on powoduje, że jesteś taki nieszczęśliwy?
Zatrzymaj się nad tym tekstem przez chwilę (10-15 min); proś Ducha Świętego, by pomógł Ci zrozumieć te słowa; zobacz, które słowo szczególnie Cię poruszyło, które dotyka Twojego życia; zastanów się co ono dla Ciebie znaczy; pamiętaj byś w tym rozważaniu starał się być sam z Panem Bogiem…, podziękuj Mu za to, co Ci dziś pokazał o Tobie…

teachings about mortal sin
Opening Prayer:
Lord Jesus, You chose Your priests and religious from among us and sent them to preach Your Word and act in Your Holy Name. For such a great gift to Your Church, accept our praise and thanksgiving.
We ask You to fill them with the fire of Your love, so that their service may reveal Your presence in the Church. Because they are vessels of clay, we pray that Your power will penetrate their weaknesses. Do not let them be crushed in their afflictions. Make them never give in to despair in doubts, never give in to temptations, and never feel abandoned in times of persecution. Inspire them in prayer so that they may live the mystery of Your death and resurrection every day. In moments of weakness, send them Your Spirit. Help them to praise Your Heavenly Father and pray for poor sinners. By the power of the Holy Spirit, put Your word on their lips and pour Your love into their hearts so that they can bring the Good News to the poor and healing to the depressed and desperate. May the gift of Mary, Your Mother, to Your disciple whom You loved, be a gift to everyone called to Your service. Grant that She who formed You in Her human image, form them in Your divine likeness, by the power of Your Spirit and to the glory of God the Father.

Let the fire of holy love kindle their hearts, so that in the flames of this love they may purify and sanctify their souls.

CONSIDERATION
The effects of sin on the soul
Man also suffers terrible consequences and damage because of sin on his soul. Just as the body without the spirit is a corpse, so the soul of man, deprived of God’s grace, is dead and disgusts God and the Angels. In this state he cannot do anything to merit eternal life.
Saint Catherine of Siena, when she once had a vision of a soul in God’s grace, exclaimed in delight: „Lord, if my faith did not tell me that there is only one God, I would think that this soul was Divinity. I understand, God, that you could die for such a beautiful soul!” However, when a person commits a grave sin, this wonderful beauty disappears: the soul, previously resembling Angels, now becomes as ugly as a devil or a carcass lying for eight days.
in the sunny heat. After sin, a person loses all the merits accumulated for eternal life, even if he was as rich in them as all the Angels and Saints together. After the fall, all that remains for him is hell. O accursed sin, what terrible destruction you cause in the soul! Unfortunately, how many people here are in such a deplorable condition! Let men fear spiritual death as much as they fear bodily death!
I go further and say that mortal sin deprives us of peace of soul. Saint Paul says that peace of the soul transcends all sensual joys: And let the peace of God, which transcends all sense, guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Phil 4:7). And the prophet Isaiah, on the contrary, says about the sinner that his heart suffers indescribable pain (cf. Is 13:8). In his letter to the Romans, St. Paul writes that sinners will be tormented throughout their lives: Trouble and tribulation will be upon every soul that commits evil (Romans 2:9).
Why, my friend, do you continue in sin when it makes you so unhappy?
Stay over this text for a while (10-15 min); ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand these words; see which word particularly moved you, which one touches your life; think about what it means to you; remember that in this reflection you should try to be alone with God…, thank Him for what He showed you about you today…

Glory be to God the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, now, and always, and unto ages of ages. Amen
